Join The Robinson Film Center for a special Family Fun matinee featuring the classic fantasy adventure LABYRINTH (1984), starring David Bowie, on Saturday, March 20 at 3:00 PM. The film tells the story of a young girl who must embark on the adventure of a lifetime to save her baby brother when he is kidnapped by "The Goblin King." Filled with lots of action and unforgettable creatures courtesy of Jim Henson, this is a fantastic, family-friendly film.
Admission is free to "Family"-level members of the Robinson Film Center's Supporting Cast membership program. Normal admission applies for all others.
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. On March 20, 2010, beginning at 7p.m., Sci-Port will pull out all of the stops for our biennial Mad Scientist Ball, one of the maddest events this town has ever seen.
Our scheming mad scientists will guide revelers through madhouse eccentricities, and the customs and cultures from all over this mad world. Lab assistants are concocting potions and recipes that are certain to entice madness throughout the night. The music to our madness will be hard to resist, as will the urge to spend money like mad at our silent auction. Additionally, in homage to the film from which we borrowed our theme, guests can participate in a madcap pursuit of cash and prizes!
One would have to be mad to miss this event, and we would have to be, well, mad to ask you to sponsor it in today's maddening times. . . so we're not. Instead of requesting sponsorships for a party, we would like to ask that our donors sponsor an upcoming exhibition or IMAX film. (Sponsors, help us choose the exhibit or film!) Additionally, contributors have the option of supporting Sci-Port's statewide traveling Science Carnival Outreach, field trips for students that incorporate programs to meet grade level expectations, as well as hands-on demonstrations to be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. A table to the ball, combined with other benefits, will naturally be included with the sponsorship. After all, there is a method to our madness.
Following this letter are descriptions of the sponsorship levels (ranging from $1,000 to $35,000), along with benefits and marketing opportunities, which will make an investment in science literacy for Louisiana.
The success of Sci-Port would not be possible without our generous donors, and we would like to thank you for your consideration of a sponsorship. It means the (mad) world to us.
Let the madness begin!
If you would like to become a sponsor for the ball, or for more information, please contact Jennifer McMenamin at (318) 424-8673 or jmcmen@sciport.org.

Where can Extended School Year services be provided? Anywhere!
IEP goals are to be worked on in the least restrictive environment, whether during the school year or after the school year ends. Hear from a parent whose child received ESY services in a community summer camp that included children with and without disabilities; the university professor who coordinates the summer camp; and an advocate who supported other parents in getting Inclusive ESY services. We'll also share changes to Louisiana Department of Education ESY guidelines and eligibility categories. Bring your brown bag lunch, soft drinks are on us.
Easter Egg Hunts for all ages; Hot Dog Lunch, with all the triminings; Games and Activities; Face Painting; Inflatables
Join us for a fun-filled day! Visit with Peter Rabbit and hunt over 10,000 easter eggs. Games, crafts and lots of family fun will be in store. Don't forget a bag to collect your eggs and your camera!
Related services in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) might be speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, transportation, psychological services and more. They can also be art therapy, dance therapy, and music therapy. Learn what the Individuals with Disabilities education Act (IDEA) says about related services. We'll share how to request related services for your child in your next IEP. IDEA says your child should get the support needed to become an adult who lives, works, and plays as independently as possible in the community. Related services can help them achieve this. Leave this training more knowledgeable and confident abut how to ensure this happens for your child. This training is great for parents & professionals!
