The spraygrounds will be in operation from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week. Riverview Park's sprayground operates seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. and has a wind sensor that will shut down the fountains if the wind gets too high. Grab your bathing suit and cool out on a hot summer day with SPAR! Water shoes are recommended.
Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center will offer a $5 admission price as an After-school Special to visitors from 3 - 6 p.m. on weekdays only from Monday, April 1, to Friday, May 31. The individual $5 admission price will give visitors access to the Center's 290+ hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics exhibits; daily changing programs and the Dayna and Ronald L. Sawyer Space Dome Planetarium.
Access to the Center's latest traveling exhibition, RiverWorks Discovery, is also included with Center admission.
Regular ticket price for the general public is $13.
IMAX Dome Theatre tickets are not included.

The Barksdale Air Force Base Air Show allows Shreveport-Bossier City to showcase the home of the B-52, grant access to tour the military installation, view military and aerobatic performers, and support the recruiting arm of our armed forces.
Children's Area:
"Adventures in Aviation" kids area with aviation-themed games and activities to be located in the center of the ramp. There's over 45,000 square feet of affordable family fun with moon walks, a giant rock wall, and monster power jumps. There is also children's art interaction and face painting.
The Nature Nuts Program is for families with children ages 2 - 6. Adult or guardian must attend with their child.
Children are introduced to nature through stories, puppets, and song. We explore nature by walking the Refuge trails, looking for clues, playing games, and making natural crafts.
We meet at 10 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month; except we don't meet in January or July. Program length of about one hour.
We will go outside, rain, mud or shine so dress appropriately and/or bring a change of clothes.
The Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners will hold their annual spring garden tour, Le Tour des Jardins on May 4 and 5, 2013. This year's garden tour will take you through five beautiful private gardens throughout Shreveport and Benton. Tour hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 4, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 5. Advance tickets are $10 and can be purchased at any Citizens National Bank, or by calling the Master Gardeners office at (318) 698-0010. Tickets may also be purchased at any garden on the days of the tour for $12.
Here is a glimpse of the gardens featured on the tour:
Jose and Anna Alba, Shreveport. This garden overlooking Cross Lake has a Moorish influence with formal paths of boxwood and a large number of container plants.
Jim and Betty Deville, Benton. A spectacular view of the pool and lake greet you as you meander through gardens full of tea roses, magnolias, ginger, black elephant ears and much more.
Chris Ciocchetti and Jennifer Donner, Shreveport. A lovely cottage home on a corner lot, with eclectic, organic cottage gardens throughout.
Janie Lipscomb, Shreveport. Elephant ears and other tropicals abound in this cottage garden surrounded by a unique, custom wrought iron fence.
Jerry and Patti Harper, Shreveport. This 5.5 acre yard is filled with azaleas, camellias, and dozens of dogwoods. The fragrance of roses fills the air as you meander through the gardens adjacent to the pool and patio.
A Garden Bazaar will be held during the tour at the Pioneer Heritage Center at LSUS, and while there, enjoy a tour of the Heritage Center Gardens, a project of the Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners. Admission to the Heritage Center is free.
Proceeds from the garden tour fund future Master Gardener projects and help promote the Master Gardeners' mission to enhance the quality of knowledge for gardeners in the community.

DOG PARK fund raiser this Sunday, May 5, 2013: "Stinko" De Mayo DOG WASH and Fiesta,
3-6pm at Marilynn's Place, 4041 Fern Ave in Madison Park. Food, Fur, Good Clean Fun-$10 dog wash/$10 nail trim. Live music by "A Fine Romance", Drinks, Kissing Booth, Doggie Tarot Card Readings and more. Proceeds will be used for legal expenses!
During the fiesta from 3-6pm Marilynn's Place will sell Hot DOGS, Corn DOGs, Chili DOGS, and Nachos; wash them down with Margaritas, Hurricanes, Beer and more. Doggie Snow Cones will be available for the dogs, PuP Cakes for people.
The Shreveport Symphony will present family concerts for the next two years, based on a generous two-year commitment from the AEP Foundation. An anonymous donor has also stepped in to allow the SSO to make the inaugural family concert free and open to all.

Loaner binoculars and field guides are available for use on the Refuge through the Friends Backpacks for Birders loaner program.
The Refuge Headquarters: 150 Eagle Bend Point, Bossier City, LA 71112. Until the Teague Parkway extension is completed, access to the Refuge and the Visitor Center will continue to be from the Sunflower Road entrance. To find us using GPS or online maps, use the old address of 555 Sunflower Road. When the parkway is completed, the Refuge will have a dedicated exit from the parkway.
"All Aboard!' the TNT Express; the FREE Thursday Night Trolley tour which rolls through downtown Shreveport every 3rd Thursday of the month, taking visitors to downtown art, cultural and science attractions including museums, galleries and historical sites.
A professional guide rides along on the green trolley offering interesting tidbits about Shreveport's multicultural history. Trolley tours run approximately every 20 minutes from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Each month select destinations stay open after hours to give you a private tour such as a behind-the-scenes peek at an opera, symphony or theatrical production rehearsal, a walking ghost tour or look beyond what is normally open to the public. TNT Express visitors may get to sample liquid nitrogen ice cream, create hands on art, sample a fine wine, visit an Asian garden, or shop in some of these venues' unique gift shops. Every TNT Thursday is designed a little differently so guests can enjoy something special each month.

Free and open to the public, visitors will be able to view the chimpanzees in their naturalistic environment as they forage for fruit, vegetables and leaves, and talk to staff about the chimpanzees' personalities and natural behavior.
There will also be interactive activities for families, a craft booth, veterinary displays, and an enrichment booth where children can make treats for the chimpanzees.
Following Chimpanzee Discovery Days,"Chimp Chat & Chew", is a special fundraiser for educational programs. It includes a behind the scenes tour, lunch and a presentation by a staff member. ($40 adult/$20 children -- reservations required)

Local residents will have their shot at fame as the Aha Moment Tour makes its way to Shreveport. The aha moment tour features a one-of-a-kind mobile television studio in a 34â™ Airstream trailer designed to capture and share American's aha moments across the country. Locals can sign up for their spot and view previously recorded moments at http://www.mutualofomaha.com/aha.
It is all part of Mutual of Omaha's search for their next commercial spot featuring real people sharing real stories. From the participants along the 20-city and 7,300-mile tour, one new 30-second ad will be produced to air next year.

This month's Star Party will focus all on Saturn and its majestic ring system. Saturn's rings are the most extensive in our Solar System and have been studied since first observed by Galileo Galilee in 1610. Plus, Saturn is joined by a few famous constellations for your viewing pleasure: Virgo, Leo, The Big Bear and the Little Bear.
