FOLLOW THE SUNFLOWER TRAIL

The Annual Sunflower Trail & Festival is this Sat., June 28th. It is one of my favorite family festivals and has become a Cate family tradition to follow the Sunflower lined highway north to Gilliam, LA. We pack snacks, a blanket and scissors for cutting flowers. Many farmers don't mind if you cut a few to take home. Be sure to bring scissors, Sunflowers can stand 5 ft. high and their stalks are hard to break.

You'll also want to bring a camera. You can get beautiful shots of the kids in the sunflower fields that will make great Christmas cards or presents for grandparents.

Plan to eat lunch at Adger's Restaurant (I recommend the hamburger w/corn fritters) or enjoy tasty treats from one of the food vendors at the festival behind the Library and Adger's. The festival has music, art, crafts and they even had pony rides last year.
